Austin Powers in Goldmember
Austin Powers in Goldmember, the follow up to
Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, stars
Mike Myers, Michael Caine, Michael York, Beyonce Knowles, Verne Troyer, and Seth Green. Myers,
once again, plays the title character and the title character's nemesis, Dr. Evil. Myers also
plays two other characters, Goldmember and Fat Bastard.
Near the beginning of this movie, Austin actually catches Dr. Evil and sends him to prison. As a reward for finally putting Dr. Evil behind bars, Austin is knighted. At the ceremony, he is disappointed when his father, Nigel (Caine), does not show up. Later, Basil Exposition (York), of the British Ministry of Defence, informs Austin that Nigel has been kidnapped and taken back in time to 1975 by another evil genius, Goldmember. Goldmember got his name because he lost his genitalia in an unfortunate smelting incident. The British Ministry of Defence builds Austin another time machine to travel back to 1975, and when Austin gets there, he runs into one of his old girlfriends, Foxxy Cleopatra (Knowles), who is an FBI agent working undercover in Goldmember's club, where Nigel is being held. Austin finds Nigel, only for Goldmember to overpower him and escape back to 2002 (when the movie takes place). Foxxy decides to follow Austin back to the future in order to rescue Nigel. When they get back, they find that Dr. Evil has escaped from prison and set up a new lair somewhere near Tokyo, Japan. This time, Dr. Evil and Goldmember are working together to kill Nigel and destroy the world using a laser to melt the polar ice caps and cause a global flood. Also this movie, much like the last movie, finds Dr. Evil's miniature clone, Mini-Me (Troyer), and Dr. Evil's son, Scott (Green), competing for Dr. Evil's acceptance. This time, Scott gets the upper hand by shaving his head to look more "evil" and buying Dr. Evil a pair of sharks with laser beams attached to their heads. In fact, Dr. Evil bonds with Scott so much that he casts away Mini-Me, causing Mini-Me to join Austin and Foxxy in the fight against Dr. Evil and Goldmember. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
