The Benchwarmers stars Rob Schneider, Jon Heder, David Spade, and Jon Lovitz. In this movie,
Gus (Schneider), Clark (Heder), and Richie (Spade) are three grown men who are friends. Clark
and Richie were also the unpopular kids who never got to play baseball due to being tormented by
bullies. One day, Gus and Clark notice a group of nice kids try to play baseball, only to get
chased away by a mean-spirited little league team. Gus and Clark chase those bullies away, and at
that point, Gus finds out that Clark never played baseball because the kids in his neighborhood
would always "spit loogies on his forehead." Clark and Richie decide they should try to enjoy the
game themselves, and they return to the field with Gus. The same little leaguers ask Gus, Clark,
and Richie to leave, but Gus challenges the bullies to a game for the field, even though there
are nine little leaguers against three grown men. The three men win, due to Gus's incredible
ball playing skills. Soon, the three men catch the attention of Mel (Lovitz), a billionaire who
was also a victim of bullies as a kid and the father of one of the kids kicked off the baseball
field at the beginning of the movie. Mel pitches the idea of the three men playing against every
mean-spirited little league baseball team in the region, offering a brand new stadium as a prize
for the team who is undefeated (it is a one game elimination). The whole idea is to have the
three men show the world that everyone should be allowed to play baseball.
