Billy Madison stars Adam Sandler, Darren McGavin, and Bradley Whitford. Sandler plays the
title character, who is a twenty-five year old goof-off and son of Brian Madison (McGavin),
owner of the highly successful hotel chain Madison Hotels. Brian calls his business associates
to his mansion to announce that he is retiring from Madison Hotels, and although he was going
to give the company to Billy, he instead announces he will give control of Madison Hotels to
his Vice President, Eric Gordon. Billy does not want Eric to have control of the company, and
he tries to get his father to reconsider, but Brian informs Billy that he could not get
through school on his own, not even elementary school. The only reason Billy graduated was
because Brian paid off all his teachers, under the assumption Billy would "get into a good
college and straighten himself out" (which, of course, he did not). Billy then comes up with
the idea that if he can pass each grade, one through twelve, within two weeks for each grade,
he will be fit to run Madison Hotels. Brian accepts Billy's challenge, and Billy must try
everything in his power to graduate, while Eric tries everything in his power to make sure
Billy fails (much to Billy's suspicion, Eric apparently really does have bad morals).
