Detroit Rock City stars Edward Furlong, James DeBello, Giuseppe Andrews, and Sam
Huntington. In this movie, four high school students known as Hawk (Furlong), Trip (DeBello),
Lex (Andrews), and Jam (Huntington) are members of a Kiss tribute band (known as Mystery) and
would do anything to see Kiss play live in concert. The year is 1978, and this is the third
year the four attempt to see Kiss live, after having been unsuccessful the past two years. The
four actually have Kiss tickets this time and plan to take a train to Detroit to see Kiss.
However, on the day they are to take off for Detroit, Jam's mother, who believes Kiss is the
music of Satan, finds the tickets and announces, in front of the high school's entire student
body, that she is putting a stop to Jam's attempt to see Kiss live; she then burns the tickets.
She also pulls Jam out of public school and puts him in a Catholic boarding school. Meanwhile,
Trip thinks he won four Kiss tickets (so they can see Kiss anyway) by calling a Detroit radio
station at the right time. Hawk, Trip, and Lex decide they cannot see Kiss without Jam, and
they bust Jam out of his boarding school by getting Jam's priest high on mushrooms by putting
them on a pizza; Lex also steals his mother's car in order to get the four to Detroit. When
they get to Detroit, they are disappointed to find that Trip did not actually win anything, as
he had hung up before giving the radio station his name. To make matters worse, Lex's mother's
car gets stolen. The four then split up to find Kiss tickets any way possible, and each of the
four has a life-changing experience on his journey to see Kiss.
