Dumb and Dumber stars Jim Carrey, Jeff Daniels, and Lauren Holly. At the beginning of the
movie, Lloyd Christmas (Carrey), a limo driver, drives Mary Swanson (Holly) to the airport.
Mary is going to Aspen, CO, but leaves a briefcase behind for the people who have kidnapped her
husband. Since Lloyd develops a crush on Mary (he does not yet know she is married), he grabs
the briefcase before the kidnappers can, under the impression that Mary accidentally left it
behind. Lloyd loses his job after getting into a wreck in front of the airport. Lloyd's best
friend, Harry (Daniels), also loses his job as a dog groomer after carelessly smearing
condiments on showdogs' fur. The two decide to drive to Aspen, from their home in Providence,
RI. Mary's husband's kidnappers believe Lloyd and Harry are from some kind of law enforcement
agency, and they try to make sure Lloyd and Harry never make it to Aspen. Hilarity ensues as
Lloyd and Harry come across a diner (where they trick someone known as Seabass into picking up
their tab), pick up one of the kidnappers and take him to another eatery, and find out the
briefcase they are carrying is loaded with cash (which they spend on ridiculously unnecessary
and expensive luxuries).
