Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd is the prequel to
Dumb and Dumber and stars Derek Richardson,
Eric Christian Olsen, Eugene Levy, and Rachel Nichols. In this movie, Harry Dunne (Richardson)
starts public school at the age of eighteen, after having been home schooled by his mother. His
mother finally saw the need for public school when she came to the realization that Harry
never outgrew his imaginary friend, "Captain Rob." Harry quickly meets Lloyd Christmas (Olsen),
the son of the high school janitor, and the two, of course, have subnormal intelligence. They
are on a quest to find a hidden treasure in the school that Harry's mom told him about (to
convince him to accept public school). Since the two are morons, they quickly become targets
for bullies, one of whom runs the two up the flagpole. The high school principal, Mr. Collins
(Levy), gets an idea to form a phony special needs class after seeing the two on the flagpole -
he is interested in this because it will land him some grant money he intends to use for a
condo in Hawaii. Lloyd and Harry are in charge of signing up students for the special needs
class, and they do manage to fill it with students with certain "shortcomings" (although
neither one of them really needs a special needs class). However, things get messy when student
news reporter Jessica (Nichols) begins to suspect the class is a scam, and she tries to get
information out of Harry and Lloyd about the class - the two both become infatuated with her in
the process. Principal Collins also knows Jessica is onto him, especially when he finds his
chest missing - the chest contains records of every scam he's ever pulled. It turns out Harry
and Lloyd had taken the chest, believing it to contain the "hidden treasure" (Collins believes
Jessica took the chest). Harry and Lloyd also have other adventures, including smearing
chocolate all over Jessica's bathroom, blowing up a gas station, and making a Thanksgiving Day
float that looks like Principal Collins, if he were a pirate, and using the tapes documenting
Collins's scams as the soundtrack to the float (which gets Collins arrested)!
