Grandma's Boy

Meanwhile, at Alex's place of employment, a small video game company known as Brainasium, Alex and his co-workers are to work out the bugs in a video game known as Eternal Death 3. To keep the testers on schedule, Brainasium hired a project manager, who is an attractive woman named Samantha (Cardellini), whom with Alex eventually falls in love (and Samantha falls for Alex as well). The Eternal Death games were designed by video game prodigy J.P. (Moore), an extremely nerdy person who talks like a robot whenever he gets nervous. J.P. designed the original Eternal Death when he was only thirteen. J.P. is infatuated with Samantha as well.

Alex's grandma and her roommates do not make it easy for Alex to finish his assigned levels of Eternal Death 3, as they keep getting in the way by hogging the television. Alex's grandma also becomes addicted to Demonik, a video game Alex had been designing for three years. Alex eventually manages to get the three out of the way by buying them tickets to Antiques Roadshow, and he is able to get his work done just in time.

Tension occurs between J.D. and Alex when J.D. gets his hands on Demonik and tries to pass it off to Brainasium as his own. Since Alex did not tell any of his co-workers (not even Samantha) he was designing a game and has no other copy of the game, it appears he has no proof that J.D. stole it from him. However, since Alex's grandma has become a master at Demonik, Samantha gets the idea to have her challenge J.D. to prove that Alex did, in fact, design the game.
