Kickin' It Old Skool stars Jamie Kennedy, Maria Menounos, Michael Rosenbaum, Christopher
McDonald, Debra Jo Rupp, Miguel A. Núñez, Jr., Aris Alvarado, and Bobby Lee. At
the beginning of this movie, in 1986, twelve-year-old Justin Schumacher is a member of a break
dancing group known as the Funky Fresh Boys. When his group performs at the school talent show,
Justin is involved in a near fatal accident, and goes into a coma for twenty years. Now
thirty-two years old, Justin (Kennedy) soon finds out that the girl he had a crush on twenty
years ago, Jen (Menounos), is about to marry Kip (Rosenbaum), his old dance rival and now host
of a televised dance contest awarding $100,000 and a one year contract as a professional dancer
to the winner. Justin decides he must try to reunite the Funky Fresh Boys, as he finds out that
his parents, Marty (McDonald) and Sylvia (Rupp), are in danger of losing their house due to
Justin's hospital bills. Justin hooks up with his old dance partner, Darnell
(Núñez), and although he is hesitant at first, he agrees to dance again after
being kicked out of his apartment by his wife, who is fed up with him never having any money
except for funding his dream of inventing something big. They then track down the other former
Funky Fresh Boys, Hector (Alvarado), who decides he wants to relive his dancing days despite
his being overweight, and Aki (Lee), who agrees to go along after becoming convinced it will
win him a hot woman who does not yet know he even works with her. Justin also tries to win
Jen back from Kip, and for a while, it seems to work, as Jen even agrees to go out on a date
with him despite her engagement to Kip. However, Kip is afraid Justin will once again ruin
things for him (it took Kip seventeen years to get Jen to go out with him after Justin
supposedly won her over the night of the school talent show), and he tries anything he can to
stop Justin and the Funky Fresh Boys from winning the spot on his network, which he thinks
would be an embarrassment.
