The New Guy stars D.J. Qualls, Eddie Griffin, and Elizabeth Dushku. In this movie, Dizzie
Harrison (Qualls) is a high school senior who is a nerd constantly bullied by jocks. He also is
believed to have Tourette's Syndrome and is given medication, on which he overdoses. This
causes him to crash a church choir in the mall, where he jumps onstage and preaches about his
bad experiences. As a result of this act, Dizzie gets sent to prison, where an inmate named
Luther (Griffin) gives Dizzy advice on how to become "cool." Dizzie takes this advice, and gets
himself expelled from his current high school so he can begin anew at a different school. When
he arrives at the new school, he manages to re-invent himself as "Gil Harris" by knocking out
the toughest guy in the school in front of everyone (after several failed attempts). He also
helps his school's football team to win games by giving them confidence, attends a party riding
a motorcycle, and blows off the hottest chick in school. He catches the attention of the
school's head cheerleader, Danielle (Dushku). While Dizzie/Gil initially becomes as uncaring as
any other super popular high school student, after he pretends he doesn't know his old friends
to avoid looking like a loser in front of Danielle, he tries to use his "power" for good, such
as helping the unpopular students get respect. Dizzie/Gil succeeds at this task, as name
calling and bullying soon become virtually nonexistent at "Gil's" school. However, things
threaten to turn for Dizzie/Gil when "Gil's" school's football team plays Dizzie's old school's
football team, and one of Dizzie's old bullies recognizes him at the game.
