Old School stars Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughn, Will Ferrell, and Jeremy Piven. Near the
beginning of this movie, Mitch Martin (Wilson), a thirty year old real estate lawyer, breaks up
with his girlfriend, Heidi, to whom he was going to propose, when he accidentally walks in on
her playing kinky sex games with two men. He and Heidi had been living together, and he moves
out, into a house on the fictional Harrison University campus. When his friends, Bernard
(Vaughn) and Frank (Ferrell), discover his new home, they throw a housewarming party and invite
practically the entire Harrison student body. Bernard even provides the audio equipment, as he
is the owner of the successful fictional Speaker City franchise, which specializes in
electronics. The next day, Bernard and Mitch meet Dean Pritchard (Piven), who informs the two
that Mitch must move out, as the house has been zoned for campus use only; Pritchard had also
been the butt of Bernard and Mitch's pranks when they were younger, so he has done this partly
for revenge. Bernard then comes up with an idea to keep Mitch in his home: he suggests he,
Mitch, and Frank start a fraternity and open it to virtually anyone, even if they do not go to
Harrison, or any college for that matter. Mitch and Frank agree to this, and the three get
pledges of all ages, from in and out of Harrison - they even get a pledge who is pushing
eighty-nine years of age! The purpose of their fraternity is to provide an outlet for all those
who want to escape their life's boring routine. All seems well until Pritchard gets their
status revoked by bribing the head of the student board who approved the fraternity's campus
status. Furthermore, Pritchard threatens to expel all the members who are Harrison students for
participating in a nonsanctioned fraternity! Of course, Mitch does not take this lightly, and
he fights Pritchard by pointing out that he cannot revoke their status without a formal
evaluation of the fraternity's activities ranging from academics and athletics to community
service, debate, and school spirit. The kicker is, everyone is subject to the review, even
those who do not go to college. At first, this scares Bernard, as academics have never been his
thing, but he eventually comes around, and everyone in the fraternity tries their hardest to
keep their organization alive.
