Wayne's World stars Mike Myers, Dana Carvey, Rob Lowe, and Tia Carrere. This movie is
based on a skit of the same name from the Saturday Night Live televison comedy. In
this movie, Wayne Campbell (Myers) and Garth Algar (Carvey) are the hosts of an Aurora, IL
cable-access televison show Wayne's World, broadcast from Wayne's basement, where the
two do whatever. The show is popular with local viewers, and they catch the attention of
televison station executive Benjamin Caine (Lowe), who offers to buy the show out for $10,000
(which Wayne and Garth split), and keep the two on for an attractive salary. The two accept,
but on their first show, Wayne blows it by constantly humiliating the show's sponsor. Wayne
gets fired, and Garth is left to host the show all by himself, which he has a difficult time
doing, so the new Wayne's World is over before it really takes off. Meanwhile, Wayne
has formed a relationship with Cassandra (Carrere), the singer and bass player for hard rock
bar band Crucial Taunt, who has also caught the eye of Benjamin. When Cassandra informs Wayne
that Benjamin will produce a music video for her, Wayne is worried she will leave him for
Benjamin. Luckily for Wayne, he has a plan to "steal" Cassandra back: he has come across
information that a big record company executive, Frankie Sharp, will be driving through Aurora
on an upcoming Friday night; he, Garth, and their friends plan to rig satellite signals to
broadcast directly into Mr. Sharp's limo that night when it is time for Wayne's World,
and Wayne will try to convince Cassandra and Crucial Taunt to play on the show for Mr. Sharp to
see.
